Supamas Urges Online Platforms to Address Unsafe Live-Streaming Content

Bangkok: Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, has raised concerns over the safety and construction of media content, particularly live-streaming about sex, which she described as unsafe and violent. She has called upon online platforms to take responsibility and find measures to address these issues.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved a live stream of inappropriate sexual content on a popular online platform. During a meeting of the Committee of the Safe and Creative Media Development Fund at Government House, Ms. Supamas expressed her discomfort with the recent events, noting the widespread unease they have caused among Thais. She emphasized the contradiction these events pose to the principles of the Safe and Creative Media Fund, which aims to promote safe and creative media consumption.

Ms. Supamas, who is also a mother of four, highlighted the need for the fund to play a more active role in ensuring online platforms prevent such incidents. She stressed the importance of platforms taking responsibility for their actions towards the Thai people, a responsibility she believes remains unfulfilled. Ms. Supamas intends to instruct the secretariat to explore this matter further and discuss potential solutions at the next committee meeting.
