Bangkok: "Suriya" is preparing to select a new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, emphasizing that the candidate will be from within the ministry and that three names are being considered.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suriya Jungrungreangkit, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has revealed that the selection process is currently underway to find a suitable candidate for the position of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. This appointment is necessary as Mr. Winairoj Sapsongsook is set to retire in September. While initial names have been considered, no final decision has been made yet. Further discussions with Mr. Winairoj are required before the nomination can be submitted to the Cabinet for approval. The emphasis is on appointing someone from within the ministry who has a deep understanding of the public administration system and the ministry's responsibilities, which is expected to boost morale among civil servants.
The qualifications for the new Permanent Secretary include being honest, knowledgeable, and capable of managing the organization effectively. The candidate must also be adept at driving the ministry's overall policies to achieve tangible results. Currently, there are approximately three candidates under consideration. Their performance is being evaluated to ensure the most suitable choice is made.
Additionally, this year will see six senior executive positions becoming vacant due to retirements within the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. These positions include the Director-General of the Department of Livestock Development, Secretary-General of the Agricultural Land Reform Office (ALRO), Inspector-General of the Ministry, and Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The ministry plans to select suitable candidates for these roles to support government policies, administer the ministry effectively, and continuously improve the quality of life for farmers.
