Suspect in Bomb Attack on Assistant Minister of Culture’s Home Detained

Bangkok: The suspect involved in the bomb attack at the residence of the assistant minister of culture was taken into custody and presented before the Min Buri Criminal Court for detention by officers from the Min Buri Police Station, who opposed granting bail.

According to Thai News Agency, the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Mr. Chanaphai, was accused of throwing a bomb into the home of Pol. Lt. Gen. Phonphum Wiphatiphumphatham, the assistant to the Minister of Culture. The incident has led to a series of charges against him, including possession of explosives without permission, causing an explosion that resulted in property damage, property damage, and nighttime trespassing.

Authorities have expressed concerns about the severity of the crime, citing it as outrageous behavior, and have therefore opposed bail. Mr. Chanaphai, during his transport to the court, claimed his actions were driven by personal reasons, denied any political motivations or external influence, and stated he was suffering from mental illness.
