Bangkok: Police Colonel Tawee Sodsong, a Member of Parliament (List System) and leader of the Prachachart Party, participated in an academic seminar titled 'Analyzing the Draft Budget Act 2027' to discuss the future of fiscal discipline in the country. The event, organized by the Parliamentary Budget Bureau (PBO), took place at Seminar Room B1-2, B1 Floor, Parliament Building.
According to Thai News Agency, the seminar focused on evaluating the country's fiscal trends and presented a probability model for fiscal discipline by 2030. The analysis identified four potential scenarios: a 40.30% chance of failing to achieve both fiscal balance and public debt targets, a 36.20% chance of a government surplus with increasing public debt, a 12.20% chance of a deficit with decreasing public debt, and only an 11.30% chance of meeting both targets of fiscal balance and debt reduction.
The participation of Tawee Sodsong underscores the significance of aligning national budget management with the principles of law and transparency. The seminar's objective was to ensure that the 2027 budget allocation meets the country's developmental needs while maintaining fiscal stability and discipline over the long term, thus preventing potential financial burdens on the public anticipated for 2030.
The event garnered interest from members of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and various related agencies. Participants engaged both in person and through live online streaming until the seminar concluded at 3:30 PM.
