Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) is prepared to dismiss a teacher from a renowned school in the Bang Khen area after more than 30 students reported being sexually abused in a classroom. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security is preparing to address the students' psychological well-being. One of the parents urged other victims to come forward and file police reports to ensure the perpetrator is punished.
According to Thai News Agency, a group of high school students and student teachers from a prominent high school in the Bang Khen district of Bangkok have filed a police report against a male teacher for allegedly committing indecent acts against more than 30 students and student teachers.
Recently, Ms. Arunee Jiramahasarn, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, stated that initially, the teacher in question has been assigned to the district office to prevent involvement in the case. A committee has also been formed to investigate serious disciplinary violations. If found guilty, severe disciplinary action will be taken, including immediate dismissal or termination from government service.
Ms. Phanpilai Suthikot, an official from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs, Ministry of Social Development and Human Resources, stated that they will coordinate with the student's family to arrange for the child to receive psychological support.
One of the parents who filed a police report today said that there are many more students who were abused by this teacher but are too afraid to come forward. She urged other victims to do the right thing and report the perpetrator so that they can be punished.
