Bangkok: Police are hunting for two teenagers who used knives to rob a convenience store, making off with the money. CCTV footage captured two teenagers wearing helmets and wielding knives robbing a convenience store in Mueang District, Surin Province, making off with over 2,000 baht. A security guard who attempted to intervene was injured.
According to Thai News Agency, CCTV footage from a convenience store in Mueang District, Surin Province, at 3:29 AM captured two teenagers wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants, blue and black helmets to conceal their faces, and carrying machetes as they stormed into the convenience store. The first perpetrator, wearing a blue helmet, attempted to jump over the counter but changed his mind, grabbed the employee by the neck, and used a knife to threaten her before forcing her to open the cash drawer, while another person stood by to watch.
A security guard noticed two teenagers acting suspiciously, carrying knives and sticks, entering the store. He approached and asked the two why they were inside, but the teenagers refused to speak and tried to flee. The security guard blocked their path and called for help from other staff to restrain them. A struggle ensued, but the two escaped, fleeing on a motorcycle parked outside the store. The security guard sustained injuries from a knife wound to his arm and fingers, and was struck on the head with a stick.
Police are reviewing CCTV footage to track down two teenagers who robbed a convenience store. Following the incident, officers inspected the convenience store where the crime occurred, finding items scattered around. The robber made off with 2,141 baht. The make and license plate of the vehicle used in the crime are still unknown.
Authorities questioned the assistant store manager, store employees, and security guards present at the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage to trace the escape route and apprehend the suspect as quickly as possible.
