Thai FM Joins Regional Efforts to Discuss Myanmar Issues

LUANG PRABANG, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara joined discussions on helping Myanmar find a durable solution, highlighting the need to redouble efforts to move forward the 5-Point Consensus (5PC) as he was attending the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat (AMM Retreat) in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. The foreign minister participated in a group photo with fellow ASEAN counterparts before the meeting. One of the key agenda items was the unrest in Myanmar, with ASEAN expressing a shared desire for a swift restoration of peace, and Thailand expressing readiness to support such efforts. The meeting supported Thailand's humanitarian initiative along the Thai-Myanmar border as part of ASEAN's collective efforts on the 5-point consensus. The 5-point consensus includes the cessation of violence, opening the country to humanitarian aid, and initiating dialogue processes among various groups in Myanmar. Thailand Myanmar urged to re-engage with ASEAN, emphasizing the importance of respon ding positively to the 5- point consensus outlined by the regional bloc.
