Thai Military Prepares for Possible Evacuation Due to Myanmar Conflict Spillover

Bangkok: The Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces acknowledged reports of Myanmar war bullets falling on the Thai border. He said he has coordinated with the area to issue a warning. If a repeat occurs, he will use rules of force and prepare to order the evacuation of civilians from at-risk areas.

According to Thai News Agency, General Ukrit Boontanon, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, addressed the situation involving bullets from the conflict between Myanmar and ethnic minority groups landing in Thailand. Initial reports indicate that the conflict involves the Myanmar central government and ethnic minorities, resulting in misaligned bullet trajectories that have crossed into Thai territory.

The Rajamanu Task Force, Naresuan Army, has responded by adhering to the rules of force, firing warning shots, and coordinating with the area through the TBC mechanism. They are working with government agencies in Myanmar and ethnic minority forces to warn against such occurrences in Thailand, emphasizing that the army has already issued warnings of this nature. Future incidents will prompt the use of force measures.

The Commander-in-Chief also mentioned that there were injuries but no fatalities resulting from the incident. He further noted that preparations are in place to evacuate people from the risk area.
