Bangkok: The Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association is set to host a significant business forum aimed at fostering improved business relations between Thailand and Myanmar. This event, organized to coincide with the official visit of President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar to Thailand, is poised to open new avenues for business collaboration between the two neighboring countries.
According to Thai News Agency, the "Thai-Myanmar Business Forum 2026" is scheduled for August 6, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Organized by the Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association, the event is expected to lay the groundwork for enhanced business cooperation. Mr. Phitsanu Suwanachada, the association's president, emphasized the forum's role in building a new chapter of business relations between the two nations.
The forum will feature a diverse agenda, beginning with a morning session at 9:00 AM. This session will include a seminar focusing on "Business Opportunities in Myanmar" and a business clinic for potential investors. The clinic, organized in collaboration with the Thai Business Association in Myanmar (TBAM) and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI), aims to guide investors interested in the Myanmar market.
The afternoon session will start at 2:30 PM and will include special lectures delivered by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul of Thailand and Senior General Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar. Following the lectures, a panel discussion will explore topics such as creating a conducive regulatory environment for sustainable business and connecting present opportunities to future prospects in Myanmar.
Mr. Phitsanu highlighted the association's commitment to strengthening ties between the business communities of Thailand and Myanmar. He noted the importance of providing Thai businesspeople with a comprehensive understanding of Myanmar's business landscape, which is essential for building confidence and fostering long-term partnerships.
The Thai-Myanmar Friendship Association, established in 2007, has consistently worked to enhance people-to-people understanding between the two countries. Over the years, the association has organized various initiatives, including disaster relief efforts, medical donations, and seminars promoting trade and investment. Its role as a bridge between the two nations is grounded in a shared history of good neighborly relations.
The current committee, serving from 2026 to 2028, comprises 14 appointed members, including Mr. Phitsanu Suwannachada as President, Mr. Chana Phumi as Vice President, and Mr. Chainarong Keeratiyutwong as Secretary. The committee also includes six ex-officio members from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ensuring a comprehensive approach to fostering bilateral relations.
