Thai National Team Ready for Asian Games Preparation in Japan

Bangkok: The Thai women's volleyball team is gearing up for an advance training session in Japan, while other sports such as boxing, sailing, and windsurfing are following similar preparation strategies ahead of the 20th Asian Games.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), has confirmed the Thai national team's readiness for the Asian Games, scheduled from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. In the final two weeks leading up to the Games, the team's preparation has been conducted meticulously as planned. The SAT has managed the preparation plan in conjunction with various sports associations, consistently integrating sports science, nutrition, and psychology to ensure the athletes' optimal readiness before the competition.

Dr. Kongsak highlighted that several sports associations have been continuing their training camps since the 33rd Southeast Asian Games, hosted by Thailand last year, where the nation excelled in the gold medal tally. This past success boosts their confidence in enhancing their performance for the upcoming Asian Games. He also emphasized the importance of focusing on training while being cautious of injuries, travel mishaps, and health issues as the Games approach. The SAT has deployed a dedicated team at the Sports Science Center to support and care for the athletes, who are diligently working to provide comprehensive services.

Additionally, the boxing, sailing, and windsurfing teams are set to leave for Nagoya on September 9, 2026, via Thai Airways flight TG 644 at 00:05 for their training and preparations. Meanwhile, the Thai women's national football team will depart on September 11, 2026, and the men's team on September 13, 2026, both on the same flight. The main group of players is expected to join the team between September 14 and 16, 2026, as they prepare for their participation in the Games.
