Thai Paralympic Team Prepares for 2026 Asian Para Games

Nagoya:The Thai Paralympic team is gearing up to compete in the 5th Asian Para Games, scheduled to take place in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from October 18-24, 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Prodpran Samanmit, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), announced that preparations for the Games have been ongoing since the conclusion of the 13th ASEAN Para Games hosted by Thailand in January 2026. The SAT is working in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of Thailand and four sports associations to ensure the athletes are well-prepared. These associations include the Thailand Paralympic Committee for the Disabled, the Thailand Blind Sports Association, the Thailand Cerebral Palsy Sports Association, and the Thailand Intellectual Disability Sports Association. The athletes' morale and confidence are reportedly high as the event approaches.

Regarding logistics, the Sports Authority of Thailand has arranged for chartered Thai Airways flights to transport 265 athletes and 147 officials to and from Japan. Two flights are scheduled to depart from Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 11, 2026, at 09:00 and 09:30. The return flights from Nagoya will occur on October 25, 2026, departing at 11:00 and 11:30, expected to arrive in Bangkok at 15:00 and 15:30, respectively.

The 2026 Asian Para Games will feature competitions in 18 sports, including archery, athletics, badminton, boccia, cycling, and more. With 492 gold medals available, the Thai team will participate in all events, showcasing their skills and determination on the international stage.
