Bangkok: "Fern" Warisara Seethalert, a 20-year-old volleyball player from Thailand, has become instrumental in leading the Thai women's national volleyball team to secure a spot in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA. Notably, Seethalert hails from Amnat Charoen Province, historically absent from the national team roster, marking a significant milestone for her hometown.
According to Thai News Agency, Seethalert's journey into volleyball began unexpectedly during a school sports day at Ban Khampo Kaew Khamlai School, where she was inspired by her older sister's participation. Encouraged by a coach who noticed her potential due to her height, Seethalert began her training, eventually enrolling at Nakhon Nonthaburi Sports School 6 with the ambition of joining the national team.
Despite facing challenges, including a moment of discouragement during a high school tournament, Seethalert persevered with the support of her family. Her dedication paid off when she first joined the Thai national team at the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia, where she achieved a personal record and contributed to Thailand's gold medal victory.
Seethalert's achievements continued, as she secured a place in the Thai national team for several international tournaments, including the 2025 World Championship and the 2026 Nations League. Her leadership contributed to a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship, solidifying Thailand's qualification for the 2028 Olympics.
Seethalert's aspirations extend beyond the Olympics, as she dreams of playing professional volleyball in a prestigious international league.
