Bangkok: "Nong Thien," a woman who was arrested for allegedly smuggling crystal meth into Japan, is scheduled to return to Thailand tomorrow. Her family has expressed gratitude to the prosecutor's office for their role in protecting her rights and facilitating information sharing that led to her release.
According to Thai News Agency, Nong Thien was apprehended at Fukuoka Airport on charges of concealing crystal meth inside coffee. Her mother and boyfriend extended their thanks to Mr. Kosolwat Intuchanjong, Director-General of the Public Prosecutor's Office for the Protection of Rights and Legal Assistance to the Public, for his efforts in the case. They revealed their relief and joy upon hearing the news that the Japanese prosecutor had decided to drop the charges, allowing Nong Thien to return home.
Mr. Kosolwat explained that the Public Prosecutor's Office conducted a thorough investigation into Nong Thien's financial transactions and background. They found no evidence linking her to any drug trafficking network. The office, dedicated to providing legal protection and assistance to the public, includes an International Rights Protection Office that works with the Department of Consular Affairs and Thai volunteer networks overseas to assist Thai citizens abroad. He expressed his satisfaction with the outcome and stated that Nong Thien's return to Thailand is imminent.
Nong Thien is expected to arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport on a Thai Airways flight at approximately 2 PM tomorrow, marking the end of her ordeal and her return to her home country.
