Thai Women’s Volleyball Team Gears Up for Asian Championship in China

Beijing: The Thai women's national volleyball team held their first training session in Beijing, preparing for the 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship. The team arrived in Tianjin, China, to participate in the 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Continental Championship scheduled from August 21-30. The initial training, conducted at the Tianjin Sports Training Campus, was centered around physical conditioning, speed, agility, fundamental skills, serving, and receiving, and lasted over two hours. The evening session was dedicated to team system practice.

According to Thai News Agency, Coach "Ott" expressed gratitude towards the hosts for their hospitality, including accommodation, food, and transportation. He emphasized that the Thai women's volleyball team is fully prepared for the Asian Championship, acknowledging the tournament's challenges and demanding nature. He assured that the team is both physically and mentally ready, and noted improvements in their playing system compared to previous tournaments. As part of their preparation, he plans to take the athletes to visit a temple over a thousand years old for blessings and also to a peach orchard for relaxation.

This tournament carries significant stakes as the winning team will secure a spot in the 2028 Olympic Games, while the top three teams will qualify for the 2027 World Championships.

The Thai national team's schedule in Group B of the group stage includes matches against Australia on August 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM Thailand time, Indonesia on August 24, 2026, at 3:00 PM, and Kazakhstan on August 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM Thailand time.
