Bangkok: The Ministry of Tourism and Sports is extending its support to the BYD DMI 6th SEA V CUP, as part of efforts to establish Thailand as a pivotal international sports hub.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Paskorn Rangsiwattanasak, Secretary to the Minister of Tourism and Sports and spokesperson for the Ministry, represented Minister Surasak Panjaroenworakul at a press conference for the BYD DMI 6th SEA V CUP. He confirmed the Ministry's backing for international sporting events to boost Thai athletes' potential, improve the country's image, and stimulate sports tourism, which is a key driver of the national economy.
The BYD DMI 6th SEA V CUP is set to take place from August 7-9, 2026, at the Chiang Mai 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai. It is organized by the Volleyball Association of Thailand in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Volleyball Confederation (SAVA) and Chiang Mai Province. Top volleyball teams from the ASEAN region will participate, offering athletes the chance to hone their skills, share experiences, and elevate the standard of regional volleyball competition.
Mr. Paskorn emphasized the Ministry's focus on sports development at all levels, citing sports as a crucial mechanism for human resource development, economic value creation, and enhancing the nation's positive image. The Ministry is dedicated to supporting international sporting events to propel Thailand towards becoming a regional sports competition hub and promoting the sustainable growth of sports tourism.
Additionally, Mr. Paskorn expressed gratitude to the Volleyball Association of Thailand, sponsors, and all contributors to the event. He also extended his support to the Thai national volleyball teams, encouraging them to reach their full potential, bring pride to the nation, and elevate Thai volleyball to the Asian and international stages.
