Wellington: Anutin Charnvirakul led the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Thailand and New Zealand under Sabida, establishing the first framework for cultural cooperation. The agreement covers arts, heritage, film, and creative industries, aiming to strengthen people-to-people ties and elevate the relationship to a strategic partnership.
According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Anutin Charnvirakul and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon witnessed the exchange of documents concerning cultural cooperation between the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Culture and Heritage of New Zealand.
This agreement marks the first cultural cooperation between the two countries, with a five-year timeframe covering arts, heritage, museums, archaeology, film, and creative industries. It was signed to celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and New Zealand and is a significant outcome of the Thai Prime Minister's first official visit to New Zealand in 13 years, aiming to elevate the relationship to a strategic partnership.
This collaboration is a significant force in strengthening people-to-people ties and leveraging knowledge to create new opportunities in the cultural and creative industries. Following this, relevant agencies from both sides will jointly develop an action plan to drive projects in each area towards tangible results.
