Thailand and Sichuan Collaborate to Boost Winter Tourism Programs

Bangkok: The tourism sector between Thailand and China is witnessing significant advancements, with a recent meeting held in Bangkok on July 21, 2026, serving as a pivotal platform for business-to-business (B2B) matchmaking between Chinese (Sichuan) and Thai tourism and cultural entrepreneurs.

According to Thai News Agency, this meeting facilitated the exchange of ideas and insights on tourist attractions in Sichuan Province, while also addressing the changing behavior of Thai tourists and suggesting structural improvements for future services. Representatives from Sichuan's tourism and cultural companies, such as Sichuan Airlines Co., Ltd. and Bifenggou Tourism Development Co., Ltd., engaged in discussions with over 10 Thai market operators, including D-Thai Travel Group and Sukhothai Tourism and Cultural Development Co., Ltd.

The discussion focused on promoting cooperation in several areas, including exchanging and referring tourists, joint marketing, and developing China-Thailand tourism and cultural cooperation more concretely. Sichuan's delegation presented the province's tourism and cultural resources, highlighting the advantages of the China-Thailand air route network and achievements in developing related industries.

Both sides discussed the development of high-quality tourism routes, upgrading services for foreign tourists, and expanding marketing channels in Thailand, showcasing Sichuan's potential to accommodate international tourists with its comprehensive service and safety systems. Thai representatives shared insights into the domestic market, international travel trends, and Thai tourists' spending behavior, noting the rising demand for in-depth, niche tourism products.

The Thai attendees expressed strong interest in Sichuan's snow and winter tourism products, suggesting strategies for product development tailored to the Thai market, improving payment systems, providing multilingual services, and leveraging new media for marketing. The meeting's warm and friendly atmosphere facilitated extensive idea exchanges, with both parties agreeing to establish a continuous communication and coordination mechanism.
