According to Deutsche Welle, both Thailand and Cambodia have increased their military presence along the shared border, heightening fears of a prolonged standoff. Despite military assurances that these closures do not affect local life, residents in the area express concern. Thais living near the Cambodian border recall similar tensions from past incidents.
Suthian Phewchan, a local farmer, voiced his worries, stating, “I’m worried about my family and relatives in our village and community. We experienced this once before in 2011.” The ongoing situation continues to revive old fears among the local population.
