Thailand Election Commission Launches Investigation Center to Combat Fraud

Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has announced the opening of an investigation and inquiry center for the upcoming local elections scheduled from June 20-28, 2026, as part of its intensified efforts to combat election fraud. This move is aimed at ensuring the integrity and fairness of the electoral process.

According to Thai News Agency, the ECT has established this center to operate daily from 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM during the election period. The center will focus on receiving tips, investigating complaints, and taking prompt legal action against any individuals or groups involved in fraudulent activities. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to prevent and suppress election fraud in the crucial days leading up to the elections.

The ECT is working closely with police officers, provincial election inspectors, investigators, and intelligence agencies at both central and regional levels. Rapid response teams have been formed to carry out proactive operations from June 19-28, 2026. These teams are tasked with monitoring, tracking, and investigating any suspicious activities that could potentially undermine the electoral process.

The ECT has made it clear that it will not tolerate vote buying, the distribution of property or benefits to influence voters, or any actions that violate election laws. Offenders will face severe consequences, including criminal penalties, political sanctions, and the revocation of voting rights as prescribed by law. Citizens are encouraged to report any information related to election fraud to the ECT, emphasizing the importance of public participation in safeguarding the election's integrity.

The ECT has provided contact numbers for reporting or inquiries: 0 2141 8860, 0 2141 8579, and 0 2141 8858, available from June 20-28, 2026, between 8:30 AM and 7:00 PM.
