Thailand Launches Initiative to Boost SME Income Through E-Commerce

Bangkok: The Ministry of Commerce has officially launched the 'Thai Helps Thai, Boost Thai SME Income' initiative, designed to support over 2,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), community enterprises, and community product manufacturers by facilitating their entry into the digital marketplace.

According to Thai News Agency, this initiative was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, who emphasized the collaborative effort between the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, and Thai e-commerce platforms Nex Gen Commerce and Thailand Post Mart. The project aims to provide these enterprises with access to online sales channels, highlighting products made domestically. The selection process for participating businesses was rigorous, ensuring only the highest quality products are showcased. These goods became available on the e-commerce platforms in June 2026, aligning with the government's goal for Thai SMEs to contribute significantly to the national GDP.

Deputy Prime Minister Supajee also highlighted the role of the Department of Business Development in linking entrepreneurs with online platforms and offering marketing benefits to reduce costs and enhance sales for Thai businesses. In its initial phase, 2,000 shops will benefit from the project, receiving support to establish online stores. The initiative provides three main advantages: waived sales fees for the duration of the project, ongoing promotional campaigns through live sales with influencers and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and the allocation of 250 free shipping coupons per shop, amounting to a total of 10 million baht. The event also featured several well-known celebrities and influencers who distributed special discount codes during live streams, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere and increasing the online visibility of Thai SME products.
