Bangkok: The government is collaborating with leading private sector companies to transform Thailand into a regional hub for bioscience innovation, aiming to enhance health outcomes, create economic value, and increase access to medical innovations.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Lalida Periswiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government is focused on upgrading the public health system while fostering a knowledge-based economy. This initiative involves collaboration between the public and private sectors, along with world-class industries, to position Thailand as a leader in bioscience innovation and enhance its long-term competitiveness.
The Deputy Spokesperson highlighted that the Minister of Public Health underlined the importance of collaboration between the government and the pharmaceutical industry in driving medical innovation and research, thereby improving access to quality healthcare for the public. The Ministry of Public Health has initiated the 'MOPH PLUS+' approach, which aims to transform healthcare from a national burden into a sector that generates economic value through the development of a robust health ecosystem and the promotion of investment in life sciences, medical technology, and future health industries.
Ms. Lalida further stated that the government is prepared to support cooperation with the private sector in areas such as technology transfer, clinical research, human resource development, digital health technologies, and preparedness for emerging diseases. This partnership is intended to ensure that Thai people have quicker and broader access to world-class medical innovations and advancements.
