Thailand: Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on Friday urged its citizens to evacuate high-risk areas in the Middle East immediately as regional hostilities expand, with the first group of evacuees scheduled to depart Iran this weekend. Panidone Pachimsawat, Acting Director-General of the Information Department and Deputy MFA Spokesperson, stated during a joint emergency briefing that while no Thai casualties have been reported, the situation remains "highly sensitive." He noted that ongoing strikes involving Iran, Israel, and the United States have now spilled over into neighboring Lebanon.
According to Thai News Agency, the evacuation timeline has been detailed for various countries. In Iran, out of 117 registered Thais, the first group of 68 people will be evacuated on March 7, followed by a second group of 49 on March 10. Officials are being deployed to Trkiye to facilitate the transit. Meanwhile, the Embassy in Riyadh has ordered all 118 Thais in Lebanon to depart immediately via remaining commercial flights. In Bahrain, a total of 917 Thais have registered to return home, with the first group having arrived in Thailand on March 4, and others following in phases.
Santi Nantasuwan, Deputy Permanent Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, reported that 61,396 documented Thai laborers are currently across the Middle East. In response to the escalation, the Ministry has implemented three emergency measures: establishing a War Room to monitor and coordinate assistance, freezing the deployment of Thai workers to the region until the situation stabilizes, and urging all workers to activate the SMART TOEA application to log their real-time coordinates for immediate emergency extraction.
