Thailand’s Pride Celebration 2025 Aims to Position Country as World Pride Landmark

Bangkok: Central Pattana Public Company Limited, in partnership with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and other private sector entities, has launched the “Pride For All” initiative to elevate Thailand as a key player in global Pride celebrations. The campaign, which is part of Thailand’s Pride Celebration 2025, seeks to highlight the country’s readiness to host World Pride 2030, while simultaneously boosting the economy and tourism during the second quarter through a series of Pride Month events throughout June.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phimuk Simaroj, Secretary to the Governor of Bangkok, and Mr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Pattana, alongside other government and private sector leaders, announced the Pride Month festivities. They expressed optimism that the events would attract over 1.3 million participants across the nation and help Thailand advance its commitment to equality by potentially passing a marriage equality law. If successful, Thailand would become the first Southeast Asian country to do so, joining Taiwan and Nepal in Asia, and becoming the 38th country worldwide.

The Rainbow Economy is experiencing significant growth, particularly in tourism, entertainment, and lifestyle sectors, fueled by an estimated 400-800 million LGBTQIAN+ individuals globally. This demographic generates over 150 billion baht annually, contributing to a 0.3 percent increase in GDP. The TAT anticipates that Rainbow Tourism could yield annual revenues of up to 2 billion US dollars. Highlighting the celebrations, over 300,000 participants are expected to join a parade at Central World on June 1, marking the enactment of the Marriage Equality Act.

Mr. Phimuk emphasized Bangkok’s commitment to hosting World Pride 2030, noting the city’s robust infrastructure, world-class amenities, and strong public-private partnerships. Bangkok plans to submit a formal bid in Washington, D.C., aiming to secure the event, which would significantly enhance Thailand’s economic and tourism sectors and bolster its global reputation.
