Bangkok: Thammanat Prompao, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, has dismissed rumors regarding Songkhla MP Decha Isara Khaothong’s potential move to the Kla Tham Party. Despite circulating reports, Thammanat confirmed he has not yet had discussions with Decha Isara about joining the party. He emphasized Kla Tham’s commitment to fielding candidates across all 400 constituencies, with a significant launch event scheduled for early next month.
According to Thai News Agency, Colonel Thammanat, who also serves as an advisor to the Kla Tham Party, addressed media queries concerning Decha Isara, a former secretary-general of the Democrat Party. Thammanat clarified that no formal discussions have taken place regarding the transfer of MPs to Kla Tham and suggested that there remains ample time to deliberate the matter.
When pressed by reporters on the possibility of Decha Isara joining another party, Thammanat suggested that individuals have likely already made their decisions but have chosen not to disclose them publicly.
Regarding preparations for the upcoming election, Thammanat confirmed that the Kla Tham Party plans to hold a grand opening event early next month. He reiterated that there are no current plans for a general meeting to prepare for elections, but assured that candidates will be fielded in all constituencies.
In response to questions about potential prime ministerial candidates, Thammanat expressed his preference for the current prime minister to continue, indicating that the party is not yet ready to announce its candidates for the position.
