Thawee Calls on DSI to Clarify Witness’s Changed Testimony in Senate Collusion Case

Bangkok: Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, a party-list MP and leader of the Prachachat Party, has urged the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to clarify the circumstances surrounding a witness in the Senate collusion case who altered his testimony, claiming he was coerced into implicating the Bhumjaithai Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Thawee, who is also a former Minister of Justice, refrained from providing an interview on the issue. He emphasized the necessity for the DSI to investigate the matter thoroughly. The case has drawn attention due to the witness’s assertion of intimidation, which he claims influenced his testimony against the Bhumjaithai Party.

Further inquiries by Police Lieutenant Colonel Chatwarat Saengphet into the investigation’s professionalism raised questions about how witnesses could retract their testimony if it was supported by sufficient evidence. In response, Police Colonel Thawee highlighted that the investigation encompasses multiple agencies, including the public prosecutor, but reiterated that detailed explanations should be sought from the DSI. He stressed the importance of addressing the witness’s claims of intimidation through proper channels within the DSI.
