Government House, Prime Minister urges to accelerate the development of marketing skills for Thai SMEs to compete in the online market and cope with Chinese e-commerce platforms invading the Thai market. Mr. Chai Wachirong, spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that from the case of the launch of "Temu", a Chinese e-commerce platform in Thailand, focusing on selling products at low cost, to the point that many people are worried that it may affect Thai entrepreneurs, Mr. Settha Thavisin, the Prime Minister, is concerned about Thai entrepreneurs, especially SMEs, and has instructed and ordered all relevant agencies to find approaches and measures to enhance marketing skills for Thai SMEs to be able to compete amidst the online trade trend or e-commerce. The Ministry of Commerce, through the Department of Business Development, has accelerated the development of knowledge and new marketing skills for Thai entrepreneurs to adapt and keep up with the new era of competition where trade formats are r apidly changing through the following 9 measures: 1. Expand online marketing channels 1.1) Promote and develop e-Commerce potential, such as the Online Marketing Genius: OMG course, The Influencer Journey: TIJ course, and Smart Trader Online professional salesperson course. 1.2) Create e-Commerce marketing opportunities (e-Commerce Booster) through the Digital Village by BCG online community course. 1.3) Build trust and credibility for online stores with the e-Commerce Business Owner Certification Mark (DBD Registered) and the DBD Verified Trust Mark. 1.4) Create collaboration with e-Commerce partner agencies (Market Collaboration), such as organizing the Thailand e-Commerce Expo 2024 to be held on August 20-21, 2024 at ICONSIAM, as well as create a network of online trading platforms in the country. 2. Strengthen SME entrepreneurs to exhibit and sell their products at famous department stores and shopping centers to create awareness of products and services. 3. Promote and create an image of Thai commu nity products to be known to consumers. 4. Find free or special price selling areas for community entrepreneurs, such as flea markets, department stores, gas stations, etc. There are currently 19,000 locations. 5. Enhance the knowledge necessary for running a business and be ready to deal with all situations. 6. Connect business partners such as the MOC Biz Club business network nationwide and franchise business groups. 7. Create new entrepreneurs, create jobs, create careers, increase income with a standard franchise system. 8. Strengthen the potential of local grocery stores with technology, promote knowledge, and use POS to manage stores to reduce costs and increase sales. 9. Use technology and innovation to facilitate business operations to help reduce costs, reduce time, and increase confidence in using services.
