Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Thailand

Bangkok:The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for upper Thailand, forecasting unstable weather with thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy to very heavy rainfall from October 4-7. This is attributed to a high-pressure system from China affecting northern and upper northeastern Thailand, compounded by the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, southern Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, Rainfall will initially affect northern and eastern parts and then move south to the central and eastern regions, including Bangkok. The rain's intensity will vary, concentrating more heavily in western parts of northern and central Thailand and the southern region, while decreasing in other areas.

Twelve provinces are on high alert for very heavy rainfall on October 5-6, including Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and others. The affected regions span across the North, Northeast, Central, and Southern areas, with differing rainfall patterns expected.

The Meteorological Department cautions the public about potential dangers such as flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas. Wave conditions in the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand may also worsen, with waves exceeding two meters in thunderstorms. Sailors are advised to navigate cautiously and avoid stormy areas.
