Nonthaburi: 'Tide Ekaphan' has provided information to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) regarding the Tangmo case, asserting his recollection of every wound and expressing confidence that a deep, long cut on the inside of the right leg was not caused by a boat propeller. The court has scheduled a verdict hearing for May 23.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ekaphan Banleurit met with Pol. Lt. Col. Nattapol Disayatham, an expert in consumer and environmental protection, leading the investigation into the death of Ms. Phatthathida Patcharawirapong, also known as Tangmo, a renowned actress. Mr. Ekaphan was invited to provide useful information for the DSI's investigation.
Mr. Ekaphan revealed details about the condition of Tangmo's body upon discovery. He was the first to examine her body and noted any abnormalities, offering crucial observations to the police for photographic evidence. He questioned the possibility of the boat's propeller causing the suspicious wound on the right leg, suggesting instead that it may have been inflicted by a different hard or sharp object. Based on his experience in rescue work, he doubted the propeller theory due to the nature of the wound.
Mr. Ekaphan shared his actions on the day of the discovery, recalling how he spent time in the area and later went to Wat Daeng Thammachat to pray, after which he found the rich man's boat leading to the discovery of Tangmo's body. He described the scene, emphasizing the involvement of volunteer boats and the preparation required to bring Tangmo's body to shore with dignity.
The news outlet reported that following his interview with the media, Mr. Ekaphan proceeded to provide detailed information to the investigation team. Pol. Lt. Col. Natthapol indicated that the session with Mr. Ekaphan might be brief.
At the Nonthaburi Provincial Court, the last witness for the defendant, Mr. Pheem Thammathirasri, was present alongside Tangmo's mother, Ms. Panida Sirayutthayothin, and lawyer Decha Kittiwittayanan. Tangmo's mother expressed her trust in the DSI's process and her hope for justice.
Lawyer Decha explained the court proceedings, noting that the Nonthaburi Provincial Court completed the defendant's witness examination and scheduled a verdict for May 23, 2025. The court will determine whether the incident was due to negligence or dismiss the case, with an option for appeal within a month if necessary.
