According to Thai News Agency, Ton Yang Road has become a popular destination for Songkran revelers, thanks in part to the picturesque canopy of giant rubber trees that line the route. The entire stretch is dotted with water play spots, allowing participants to refill their water supplies at an affordable rate. Food vendors have also set up stalls on both sides of the road, adding to the festive atmosphere. Despite the heavy traffic seen over the past four days, the road remains a hotspot for both locals and tourists seeking a joyful celebration.
The celebrations are not limited to Ton Yang-Saraphi Road alone. Across Chiang Mai, including the bustling Thapae Road that connects to the city’s moat, Thai and foreign tourists, as well as Chiang Mai residents, can be seen engaging in the water-splashing tradition. Many choose to walk, ride motorcycles, or travel in pickup trucks loaded with water buckets, joyously participating in the Songkran festival.
