Bueng kan: Long weekend tourism is bustling, especially in Bueng Kan province, where tourists flocked to admire the beauty of Tham Phra Waterfall and enjoy the rock slide.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Somwang Arieuea, Deputy Governor of Bueng Kan Province, along with Mrs. Nittaya Arieuea, Vice President of the Bueng Kan Provincial Red Cross, inaugurated the Mekong Nature and Sport Tourism 2026 event. This event brought tourists and athletes from both sides of the Mekong River, as well as from Hat Say Fong town in Vientiane, Laos, to visit "Tham Phra Waterfall" within the Phu Wua Wildlife Sanctuary, considered the most beautiful waterfall in Northeastern Thailand.
There is also water flowing down the rocks, creating a natural slide or rock waterslide, which is a highlight of Tham Phra Waterfall and a must-do for tourists. In addition, Tham Phra Waterfall has a sacred water source for the province, located beneath the cliff where a Buddha statue is enshrined. Water constantly drips into a rock pool below. Especially during the 5-day long weekend, over 11,500 Thai and foreign tourists visited to admire the natural beauty of Tham Phra Waterfall, generating income for pier operators, restaurants, souvenir shops, and various local producers, revitalizing the community.
In Surat Thani province, over 2,000 Thai and foreign tourists participated in tubing activities along the Khlong Sok canal near the entrance to Khao Sok National Park during the long holiday weekend. This created a particularly lively atmosphere for tubing activities, generating approximately 1 million baht per day for the local community from tourists alone.
Mr. Chanakorn Aksornpetch, head of Khao Sok National Park, said that this is the high season for tourism in Khao Sok and the rainy season makes the water in the Sok River beautiful and clean, with a good volume suitable for tubing. Similarly, within the national park, both the forest areas and the Cheow Lan Dam reservoir are popular with tourists for hiking and dam viewing. Park staff have been deployed to provide full assistance to tourists, especially during long holidays like this.
