Chiang Mai:Doi Inthanon Doi Inthanon was bustling with tourists eager to experience its cold weather, despite overcast skies and dense fog. The summit recorded a low temperature of 12 degrees Celsius, with visibility reduced to just 20 meters.
According to Thai News Agency, the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint on Doi Inthanon, located in the Chom Thong District of Chiang Mai Province, also experienced chilly conditions with temperatures dropping to 14 degrees Celsius. Despite the thick fog, which necessitated the use of headlights due to limited visibility, tourists filled the area from early morning. They enjoyed the mist, refreshing air, and the pure atmosphere. The cold weather prompted increased demand for hot drinks, rice porridge, and steamed buns at the local welfare shop.
Officials have advised tourists driving their own vehicles to ensure their cars are well-maintained and to be cautious on the steep, winding roads leading to the summit. In particular, drivers are warned about the approximately 5-kilometer stretch before the summit, which is steep and curvy. If drivers notice a burning smell from the brakes, they are advised to stop safely to allow the brakes to cool down.
Yesterday, October 13, the area attracted 3,216 visitors, including 2,527 Thai nationals and 689 foreigners, with 935 vehicles recorded entering the area to experience the chilly conditions.
