Tourists Flock to Phu Khon Noi for Sunrise and Sea of Mist Experience

Bangkok: Tourists flocked to Phu Kho Noi mountain during the New Year's holiday, eagerly setting up tents at a renowned campsite in Loei province. They gathered to witness the breathtaking sea of mist and the sunrise in the morning, as temperatures dipped to a chilly 11 degrees Celsius.

According to Thai News Agency, the tourism scene in Loei Province during the New Year's festival was bustling with activity. The cool weather drew a significant number of visitors to the Phu Khon Noi viewpoint in Ban Bung, Na Haew Subdistrict, Na Haew District. This spot has become a favored destination for tourists camping at the Na Haew campsite, offering them stunning views, a sea of fog, and captivating sunrises. Throughout the morning, the area was enveloped in a thick, white sea of fog, with tourists capturing numerous photos as keepsakes. Local villagers contributed to the experience by lighting bonfires and charcoal stoves, providing warmth and serving grilled sticky rice amidst the fog.

During the day, visitors could enjoy views of the town of Boten in Xayaburi Province, Laos. Those not camping overnight had the option to take a modified tractor, known as an E-taek, to the mountain's summit, a journey that takes about 20 minutes and offers scenic views of the landscape. The road is paved with concrete, ensuring convenient travel.

In Loei Province this morning, the lowest temperature was noted at Phu Kradueng National Park at 10 degrees Celsius. Other recorded temperatures included 10 degrees Celsius at the Loei Highland Agricultural Research and Development Center, 11 degrees Celsius at Phu Luang Wildlife Sanctuary in Phu Ruea District, 11 degrees Celsius at Phu Suan Sai National Park in Na Haew District, 12 degrees Celsius at Phu Ruea National Park, 15 degrees Celsius in Mueang District, and 16 degrees Celsius in Chiang Khan District.
