Bangkok: The Treasury Department is set to launch a mobile coin exchange service this August, providing a convenient way for the public to exchange coins. This initiative is designed to assist individuals who have been unable to access coin exchange services, allowing them to exchange all denominations of circulating coins, including damaged ones.
According to Thai News Agency, the service will be facilitated by the Treasury Department's Currency Management Division, utilizing mobile coin exchange units. These units will be stationed at various locations throughout August 2026, offering services for coins in both good and poor condition. The schedule includes stops at Ayutthaya Provincial Hall on August 17th, the Nakhon Nayok Provincial Treasury Office on August 18th, and Phra Pathom Chedi in Nakhon Pathom Province on August 19-20. Additional locations include the Singburi Provincial Treasury Office on August 21st, Chaturomuk Pavilion in Chachoengsao Province on August 25th, and a PTT gas station in front of the City Pillar Shrine in Suphan Buri Province on August 26-27.
The mobile units aim to boost coin circulation and provide a solution for those who have collected coins but faced challenges accessing traditional exchange services. Customers can exchange up to 10,000 baht worth of coins per day. For efficiency, the department requests that coins be cleaned and not placed in individual bags prior to exchange, to expedite the counting process.
