Treasury Department provides flood relief

The Treasury Department helps tenants of a royal property affected by floods, causing damage to the entire house, waiving rent for 2 years. Mr. Chamnan Phothiyod, Director-General of the Treasury Department, revealed that due to the flood situation in many provinces in the North and Northeast and other areas, property damage has occurred. Therefore, the Treasury Department is providing assistance to tenants of Crown Property affected by the flood, including tenants for residence, tenants for agricultural purposes, tenants of Crown Property buildings, and tenants of land for other purposes, by issuing measures to provide assistance by exempting rent for up to 2 years, as follows: 1. In the case of tenants of Crown Property for residence, if some damage occurs, rent will be exempted for 1 year; if the entire house is damaged, rent will be exempted for 2 years. Damage to the entire house is considered from the condition of the residential building that cannot be moved in completely because the house itself is damaged or the house structure is damaged to the point where it cannot be moved in (excluding cases where the entire house is flooded but can be moved in after the water recedes). In the case of tenants of government land for agricultural purposes, if crops or produce are damaged by floods, the rent will be exempted for 1 year. Information on damage certification can be requested from relevant government agencies, such as the Provincial Agricultural Office, Provincial Fisheries Office, etc. In the case of tenants of government buildings and tenants of land for other benefits, the collection of rent shall be exempted based on the fact that they are unable to conduct business in accordance with the objectives of the leased premises. The collection of rent shall be exempted on a monthly basis; a fraction of a month shall be counted as one month (in the case of tenants of government buildings who are unable to conduct their normal occupation for more than 3 days). For tenants of government land affected by floo ds, they may contact the provincial Treasury Office to request assistance from the Treasury Department. Source: Thai News Agency
