Trisulee Responds to Pheu Thai’s Criticism of Government’s Water Management

Bangkok: Trisulee Traisaranakul, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, has countered allegations from the Pheu Thai Party regarding the government’s handling of water management issues. Traisulee emphasized that the administration, which has only been in power for a month and a half, is actively working to address problems inherited from the previous government. She highlighted that better water management could have mitigated the current suffering of the populace. The Prime Minister is reportedly closely monitoring the flood situation, having visited affected areas to expedite relief efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, Traisulee addressed Ms. Linthiporn Warinwatcharoj, Deputy Secretary-General of the Pheu Thai Party, who accused the government of neglecting the needs of the people. Traisulee described the accusations as political rhetoric that does not contribute to resolving the issue and is unfair to the officials working diligently on the ground.

Traisulee further noted that the current administration is tasked with urgently tackling issues such as water infrastructure, disaster-prone areas, and weaknesses in the management system, all of which are legacies from the previous government. She criticized the former administration’s approach, suggesting that a more systematic and effective strategy could have prevented the current level of suffering.

The Secretary-General reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the situation, stating that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has made multiple visits to affected areas to engage directly with the public and expedite relief fund disbursement. Traisulee urged all parties to focus on cooperation rather than political attacks, emphasizing the importance of respecting the suffering of the people and avoiding the use of their plight as a political tool.
