Two More Victims Die from Brewery Fire at Lat Phrao

Bangkok: Two more victims of the brewery fire in Lat Phrao have died after battling injuries for over a month, bringing the total death toll to 41.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phitsanu, the boyfriend of Ms. Thassanai Manprapan, 31, who died in the brewery fire at Ladprao, shared that she passed away at 10:00 PM last night at Taksin Hospital. Ms. Thassanai was one of the customers at the bar on the day of the incident and had been hospitalized for about a month. Her condition was steadily improving; she could talk, and the ventilator and feeding tube had been removed. He believed she would recover. However, she still required frequent surgeries to remove dead tissue from the burns.

On Thursday, after undergoing surgery, she was found to have bleeding around her lips. She then developed a sore throat and was unable to eat. Later, her face and neck swelled, but she could still talk normally. On Sunday morning, she underwent another surgery. However, when Mr. Phitsanu visited her in the evening, he found Ms. Thassanai on a ventilator, but she was still trying to turn her face to communicate with him. That night, the hospital called to inform him that Ms. Thassanai had developed sepsis. Her condition worsened, and she needed emergency dialysis, but her condition did not improve, and she passed away last night.

Before his death, Mr. Phitsanu's parents and two children said their final goodbyes. He told them, "If you want to fight, if you can, then fight. But if you can't, then rest. Don't worry about me, my children." The children then said goodbye to their mother, "Don't worry, Mom. We'll stay with Dad. We'll study hard."

Mr. Phitsanu revealed that since the incident, the shop has sent a lawyer to provide 10,000 baht in assistance, and there has been no further assistance. He added that, in addition to the 30-baht healthcare coverage, there were other excess expenses such as transportation, diapers, and vitamins, which the family had to bear entirely. He concluded that other injured or deceased victims would also have to bear these costs.

This afternoon, officials took the body of Ms. Thassanai from the Forensic Medicine Institute, Police Hospital, to Wat Kunnathirutharam (Wat Huai Khwang) for a three-day funeral ceremony. Reporters also stated that in addition to Ms. Thassanai, one more person, Mr. Khem Meechai, 43, has died.
