Tak bai: Two police officers from Tak Bai Police Station were killed and two others injured after being shot while raiding a drug target in Tak Bai district, Narathiwat province. At approximately 11:48 AM, investigative officers from Tak Bai Police Station conducted a search operation targeting a drug case in Ban Bueng Chalam, Phai Wan Subdistrict, Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province. During the operation, the suspects opened fire on the officers, resulting in the deaths of two officers and injuries to two others. The injured officers have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
According to Thai News Agency, following the incident, authorities immediately inspected and secured the area. Initial information suggests the perpetrators are still hiding in the area, described as wearing sweatpants but no shirt, and carrying an unknown type of long firearm. Security forces are currently coordinating efforts to intercept suspects along the border and are continuously pursuing them to control the situation and bring the offenders to justice. The latest update from the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command indicates that two police officers were killed and four others were injured in the incident.
Sergeant Amran Ha and Police Sergeant Major Witthaya Chaiphromkaew lost their lives in the line of duty. Police Sergeant Major Traithos Kulsanthawashiri and Police Sergeant Wannuchit Saekho were among those injured, alongside Police Lieutenant Kittipong Srikhum and Police Sergeant Pannakit Srinakitja. Following the incident, officials immediately rushed to provide assistance and transport the injured to Tak Bai Hospital for treatment.
Relevant agencies have secured the area, investigated the scene, and meticulously collected evidence to quickly apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
