U.S. and Iran Near Agreement to End Conflict

Washington: The United States and Iran signaled on Friday that an agreement to end the war between the two sides is close to being reached. A senior U.S. government official revealed that both sides have agreed on a draft of the deal and that Washington expects to be able to sign a preliminary agreement within the next few days.

According to Thai News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that changes to the details of the agreement remain possible. However, he emphasized that the provisional deal demonstrates that Iran is emerging from the conflict stronger. Araghchi also declared on state television that Iran is the winner of this war against the United States.

Sources from all parties involved in the negotiations revealed that the proposed memorandum of understanding (MOU) includes calls to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports. Negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program, a key reason U.S. President Donald Trump used to justify the war, will take place afterward.

Meanwhile, a U.S. official, who declined to be named, told reporters that the deal fully met President Trump's primary objectives and significantly improved the negotiations.
