Vendors rejoice as Commerce Ministry reduces market rent for 3 months

Nonthaburi, The Ministry of Commerce has reduced the rental fee of the Ministry of Commerce's flea markets to help merchants immediately for 3 months after the government announced the economic recovery project. As for the organization of flea markets nationwide, the provincial commerce department has started planning before kicking off on August 20th. They are working with manufacturers, large entrepreneurs, and department stores to organize big discounts to help reduce the cost of living for the people. Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, revealed the progress of the government's economic recovery project before the kick-off of the 10,000 baht top-up project via digital wallet in the fourth quarter of this year, as discussed with Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister, and relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, Bang kok, and relevant agencies on August 2, 2024. The Ministry of Commerce has started to help people and small entrepreneurs by waiving monthly space usage fees for 43 shop owners in the Ministry of Commerce Welfare Food Center, and waiving rental fees for 993 stalls at the Ministry of Commerce Welfare Market, and 1,047 shop owners in the office building and the third-floor area for 3 months. As for markets under the supervision of other ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and important markets under the supervision of Bangkok (BMA), such as Chatuchak Weekend Market and Thonburi Market (Sanam Luang 2), as well as areas under the supervision of Bangkok (BMA), such as under expressways, recently they have started announcing a reduction in rent. For the organization of commercial markets nationwide, the provincial commercial offices have started preparing by setting dates and times for organizing commercial markets every month, at least once a month, in all 76 provinces nationwide for a period of 3 months. The locations are specified, such as provincial halls, tourist attractions, industrial estates, gas stations, universities, the front yards of wholesale and retail stores, the front yards of local department stores, and housing estates, so that vendors have a place to sell their products and help people shop. The event will kick off on August 20, 2024. In each commercial market, Blue Flag products such as eggs, sugar, vegetable oil, rice, consumer goods, and inexpensive community products such as instant noodles, canned fish, seasoning sauces, detergents, daily necessities, electrical appliances, and clothing will be sold to reduce the cost of living. In addition, we are coordinating with the Ministry of Defense to use military vehicles as mobile vehicles to sell essential goods in remote areas to help people access cheap goods. We also plan to cooperate with entrepre neurs who are members of the Board of Trade of Thailand, the Federation of Thai Industries, consumer goods manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, and local department stores to organize a large-scale product sale nationwide to help reduce the cost of living. 'The government's economic recovery projects, which will be implemented over the next three months, including helping to reduce costs for small entrepreneurs, organizing commercial markets nationwide, and reducing large product prices, will help increase the money in the pockets of small entrepreneurs, giving them more liquidity, more income, and helping to reduce their cost of living while people across the country are waiting for money from the 10,000 baht top-up project via digital wallets, which is expected to be implemented in the fourth quarter of this year, which will help stimulate the economy over the next three months,' said Mr. Phumtham.
