Bangkok: Vietnamese President To Lam is scheduled to arrive in Thailand on Wednesday for a two-day official visit, marking his first trip to an ASEAN nation since taking office, the Thai government spokesperson said.
According to Thai News Agency, the visit on May 27-28, alongside first lady Ngo Phuong Ly, aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties and elevate relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).
Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek said the trip centers on the "New Chapter of the 50th Thailand - Viet Nam Diplomatic Relations: Enhancing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership" framework. Cooperation will span security, trade, science, technology, and people-to-people ties via a "Three Connects" strategy.
On May 28, Thai Prime Minister will host an official welcoming ceremony and bilateral talks at Government House to discuss trade, investment, and security.
The leaders will witness the exchange of several memoranda of understanding (MOUs), unveil the 50th-anniversary logo, and hold a joint press conference.
They will also co-chair the Thailand-Viet Nam Business Forum, allowing Thai investors to discuss business cooperation and regulatory challenges directly with the Vietnamese leader. The visit will conclude with an official dinner hosted by the Thai Prime Minister.
