Bangkok: "View-Kulavut" Vitidsarn is set to lead the Thai badminton team at the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi, India, from August 17 to 23. The team embarked on their journey from Suvarnabhumi International Airport on Thai Airways flight TG323, with Air Chief Marshal Monthol Sutthukorn, President of the Badminton Association of Thailand, present to offer his support and encouragement.
According to Thai News Agency, "View" Kulavut Vitidsarn, who previously clinched the World Champion title in 2023 and was the World Runner-up in 2025, expressed confidence in his physical condition. Despite acknowledging the challenging competition draw, he affirmed his commitment to do his best in the tournament.
"Bas" Dechapol Puavaranukroh and "Fame" Supisara Piewsampran shared their strategy for the championship, stating that they are adopting a new approach to focus on performing well one round at a time, to avoid undue pressure.
Air Chief Marshal Monthol Satchukorn has set an ambitious goal for the team, aiming for a haul of 2 medals during the championship. The Thai national team comprises 19 players competing across all five categories.
In Men's Singles, "View" Kulavut Vitidsarn will be joined by "Ikkyu" Panichol Teeraratkul. The Women's Singles lineup includes "May" Ratchanok Intanon, a former World Champion from 2013, along with "Mew" Pornpawee Chochuwong and "May" Supanida Ketthong.
The Men's Doubles team features two pairs: "Oat" Chalermpol Charoenkijmorn with "Team" Worapol Thongsanga, and "Omo" Parkpol Theeraratkul with "Pee" Peerachai Sukphan. For Women's Doubles, "Pat" Hathaitip Mijad will pair with "Gusjang" Napaporn Tungkasathan, and "Tara" Pattharin Eiamwareesrisakul with "Namwa" Sarisa Chanpaeng.
In Mixed Doubles, the team includes "Bas" Dechapol Puavaranukroh with "Fame" Supisara Piewsampran, "Title" Rutsanaphat Upathong with "Jane" Chernicha Sudjaiprapharat, and "Omo" Parkpol Theeraratkul with "Popo" Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
