Bangkok: The Sports Journalists Association of Thailand hosted the prestigious "Outstanding Athlete of the Year 2025" awards ceremony at the Anoma Grand Hotel. The event was graced by Mr. Surasak Panjaroenvorakul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and other notable figures such as Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, an International Olympic Committee Member, and Dr. Nat Theeranat Suphanon, President of the Sports Development Fund Foundation.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony recognized athletes who have made significant contributions in 2025. Among the top accolades, Weerapol Wichuma was named the Outstanding Male Amateur Athlete for his achievements in weightlifting, while Jutathip Kanthathong received the Outstanding Female Amateur Athlete award for her success in teqball.
The event also honored Kulavut Vititsarn and Atthaya Thitikul as the Outstanding Male and Female Professional Athletes, respectively, with Vititsarn excelling in badminton and Thitikul in golf. In the realm of Muay Thai, Khunseuknoi Boomdeksean claimed the title of Best Thai Boxer of the Year.
The awards extended to various categories, including Outstanding Team Sport, which went to the Thailand Men's National Volleyball Team. The Outstanding Professional Event was awarded to the mixed doubles badminton duo of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supisara Piewsampran.
Additionally, the ceremony highlighted the achievements of para-athletes, with Pongsakorn Paeyo and Saisunee Chana winning the Outstanding Male and Female Para Athlete awards. The Amateur Weightlifting Association of Thailand was recognized for its contributions to sports, receiving the award for outstanding sports associations.
The event concluded by celebrating the contributions of distinguished sports personnel and teams, acknowledging their dedication and excellence in promoting sports and good governance across Thailand.
