Ekachai: A cautionary tale unfolded when a husband and his wife, riding pillion on a motorcycle, ignored a warning signal at a railway crossing. The wife fell and hit the ground but managed to get up and cross to the other side just in time before the train arrived. Witnesses reported that shortly after the 52-year-old woman walked away from the fall, the train passed through the spot.
According to Thai News Agency, the woman was traveling to work from a dormitory in the Ekachai 19 area to the Tha Phra area when the incident occurred. Her husband, upon hearing the warning signal, attempted to speed through the crossing despite her warnings. While he managed to duck under the barrier, she was struck in the face, causing her to fall off the motorcycle. Although she initially tried to continue to work, dizziness and injuries prompted villagers to call an ambulance.
Doctors diagnosed the woman with a fractured chin requiring nine stitches, along with swelling and some hemorrhage in her head. Fortunately, a brain X-ray did not reveal any serious damage. She was advised to stay in the hospital for one night and was expected to be discharged today.
The woman expressed her decision to switch to public transportation in the future and urged other road users to exercise caution at railway crossings. She emphasized the importance of stopping immediately upon hearing a warning signal to prevent accidents similar to the one she experienced.
