Nakhon Nayok:The Wildlife Rescue Center 1, located in Nakhon Nayok, is now open, providing a sanctuary for injured, lost, or confiscated wild animals. Situated on over 277 rai of land in Ban Khao Laem, Khao Phra Subdistrict, Mueang District, this facility is nestled within the natural beauty of Khao Yai National Park.
According to Thai News Agency, the center, previously known as the "Central Wildlife Rescue Center," was restructured and renamed in 2017 to align operations nationwide under the Wildlife Conservation Bureau. It is one of several centers, with others located in Chachoengsao, Ratchaburi, Khon Kaen, and Phrae Provinces, aimed at providing comprehensive care for wildlife across Thailand.
The mission of Wildlife Rescue Center 1 encompasses the conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife, including tasks such as relocation, quarantine, health checks, and treatment of confiscated, abandoned, injured, or lost animals. The center aims to restore these animals to health before transferring them to breeding stations. It also engages in wildlife rescue operations and maintains a database on wildlife, which includes details on species, population, health, and disease diagnosis methods.
The facility acts as both a hospital and a rehabilitation center, conducting research and supporting wildlife health care. It collaborates with other agencies to ensure the protection of wild animals and is committed to giving them a chance to regain their health.
