Woman complains to police about detaining boyfriend after he crashed his car, causing a ruptured blood vessel in his brain

The girlfriend of the deceased from a ruptured cerebral blood vessel in a car accident in Yan Nawa area has appealed for justice from Sai Mai Must Survive after police detained her boyfriend for 2 hours and refused to send him to the hospital, claiming he was driving under the influence. Mr. Ekkapop Luengprasert, advisor to the Minister of Interior and founder of the Sai Mai Must Survive page, traveled to Wat Bunyapradit in Bang Khae District after receiving a complaint from Ms. Manao, aged 39, who filed a complaint and requested justice after her boyfriend died from a ruptured cerebral blood vessel because he received treatment too late. Ms. Manao said that the day of the accident was July 13. Her boyfriend drove the airport car to pick up a customer from Suvarnabhumi Airport and send him to a hotel in the Yan Nawa area. After dropping off the customer on the way back, her boyfriend called to say that he had a bad headache and was vomiting, so she told her boyfriend to go to the nearest hospital. While dr iving to the hospital, her boyfriend's symptoms became more severe and he could not control the car, so he had an accident and hit several other motorcycles. When she called her boyfriend on the first number, he did not answer, so she called another phone that was connected to the car's Bluetooth system and answered automatically. At that time, she heard someone knocking on the car window, yelling, and telling her boyfriend to get out of the car, but she did not hear him, so she hung up. About an hour later, my girlfriend's mother called me and said that the police had called and said that my girlfriend was drunk and had crashed into another car. She was being held at the Yan Nawa Police Station. I had business in another province, so I asked my mother to go to the police station first. During that time, I called the police and asked to talk to my girlfriend and asked her to take her to the hospital first because she was sick. I insisted that she was not drunk. However, the police refused to let me talk to m y girlfriend, saying that she refused to get out of the car and told me to hurry and call the insurance company to the police station immediately. At around 9 pm, I made a video call to my boyfriend's brother who was at the police station and found that my boyfriend had already lost consciousness. The rescue team took him to the hospital. They arrived at the hospital at almost 10 pm. The doctor who treated him said that they were too late. After that, he tried to treat his symptoms at the hospital for 3 days before he passed away. The medical certificate stated the cause of death as a ruptured blood vessel in the brain. So I checked the GPS and found that my boyfriend had been at the Yan Nawa Police Station for almost 2 hours. I think that if he had been taken to the hospital sooner, he might not have died. At the same time, the doctor took my boyfriend's blood to test for alcohol. They are currently waiting for the results and confirmed that my boyfriend had never drunk driven. If the test results show no a lcohol in his blood, I will consult with the legal department and may take action against the Yan Nawa Police Station to demand justice for my boyfriend. I want an apology from the police because today we lost a family member. After the incident, my family and I have not received an apology or any responsibility from the police. We have not even received a wreath of condolence. Mr. Ekkapop stated that this case is an expensive lesson for the police to perform their duties more carefully and cautiously. However, he did not blame the police for not doing a good job or being negligent. They must use their discretion in their work because it is a matter of people's lives. However, he urged them to be careful. He emphasized that this kind of incident can happen to anyone. In this case, the victim who was hit by the deceased was sympathetic and told the police to rush the deceased to the hospital as soon as possible. The victim also said that from the initial inspection of the deceased, he did not smell any alcoho l on his body. However, he could tell that he was sick and not drunk. Source: Thai News Agency
