Samut Prakan: A fire broke out in a wooden house in Soi Chumchon Bang Ping, Samut Prakan Province. A 12-year-old girl jumped out of a window in time, while her aunt, who suffers from muscular weakness, was burned to death.
According to Thai News Agency, Samut Prakan City Police Station received a report of a fire in a wooden house in Soi Chumchon Bang Ping, Srinakarin Road, Tambon Bang Mueang, Amphoe Mueang Samut Prakan. They coordinated with firefighters to rush to the scene. They found nearby residents trying to put out the fire, but to no avail. The house was a two-story half-concrete, half-wooden building. The fire was raging, and there were a lot of recycled trash and other items piled up around the house. It was also found that someone was trapped inside. Officers rushed to spray water to contain the fire for over 20 minutes. After the fire was put out, the house was completely destroyed, and the body of Ms. Sumalee, aged 47, was found on the second floor near the stairs, burnt to death.
Nong Fa Sai, 12 years old, the deceased’s niece who escaped, said that there were 4 people living in this house. Her mother and grandfather went out to work. While sleeping on the second floor with the deceased aunt, she smelled smoke and went out to see. She found that the fire was burning a pile of recycled garbage that her grandfather had collected in front of the house. She quickly called for her aunt to come out, but her aunt said that it was just a normal grass fire and nothing serious. However, she saw that the fire was spreading into the house, so she decided to jump from the second floor window and looked up. She saw her aunt trying to escape, but she couldn’t because the fire was spreading so quickly. She didn’t hear her aunt’s voice again.
Witnesses who live in a garage across from the house where the incident occurred said that while they were repairing their car in the bus, they heard an explosion and went out to look. They found old things piled up in front of the house on fire and heard the deceased, who suffered from muscle weakness, and his niece crying for help, but the fire was too intense to help. Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
