Xi Jinping to Visit North Korea for Diplomatic Engagement

Beijing: China's official Xinhua news agency reported today that Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit North Korea from June 8 to 9, marking the first visit in nearly seven years. The visit aims to restore and strengthen relations between Beijing and Pyongyang.

According to Thai News Agency, this initiative follows Xi Jinping's recent diplomatic engagements, where he hosted US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin last month. The visit is significant as President Trump has also expressed his willingness to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un once more, after their previous three meetings.

Currently, China is making concerted efforts to reconnect with North Korea, especially after the relationship was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has aligned himself more closely with Russia, notably by sending troops and weapons to support Russian efforts in the war in Ukraine.
