Guangzhou: XPeng Aeroht, the flying car subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng, has commenced trial production at the world’s inaugural intelligent factory dedicated to the mass production of flying cars. The facility is situated in the Huangpu District of Guangzhou, within south China’s Guangdong Province.
According to Thai News Agency, the sprawling factory spans over 120,000 square meters and has already produced the Land Aircraft Carrier, a modular flying car featuring a detachable electric aircraft. The factory boasts a modular aircraft module production capacity of 10,000 units annually, with an initial output capacity of 5,000 units. Once fully operational, it is expected to assemble an aircraft every 30 minutes, making it the largest facility of its kind ever constructed.
Since the launch of its flying car, Xpeng Aero has secured nearly 5,000 orders, with plans for mass production and delivery set for 2026. The flying car itself comprises a six-wheeled ground vehicle that serves as a “mothership” and a modular electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. The aircraft can operate in both autonomous and human-controlled modes, with the autonomous mode capable of planning flight paths and executing takeoffs and landings with a single command.
The six-wheeled ground vehicles measure approximately 5.5 meters in length and are designed for use on public roads with a standard driving license. They can also be parked in regular parking areas.
