President Yoon Suk Yeol visited a nursing home for veterans Friday to thank them for their service to the country, the presidential office said. Yoon visited the nursing home in Suwon, 30 kilometers south of Seoul, to meet veterans receiving treatment at the facility, ahead of the anniversary of the start of the 1950-53 Korean War next week. During the meeting, the president presented "Hero's Uniform" to Korean War veterans and thanked them for their sacrifice and contribution to the country, the office said. He also attended an activity program with veterans, injured soldiers and bereaved families of fallen soldiers and made picture frames. Established in 2008, the facility is the nation's first nursing home dedicated to providing health care services to veterans. The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs aims to establish new rehabilitation centers and nursing hospitals in regional veterans hospitals to provide a comprehensive system encompassing the treatment, rehabilitation and care of veterans.
