Yotsanu Wongsawat Addresses Low Poll Rankings and Outlines Security Policies

Bangkok: Yotsanu Wongsawat, the prime ministerial candidate for the Pheu Thai Party, addressed concerns over the party's low popularity in recent polls, emphasizing that the results are not a problem and will be taken into consideration for future adjustments.

According to Thai News Agency, Wongsawat noted that despite the party's low ranking in the "Person of the Year" polls, the public's response to their policies during fieldwork and discussions has been positive, allowing the party to present new initiatives and boost confidence.

Wongsawat elaborated on the party's national security policy, stressing the importance of a fully digital approach that integrates diplomacy with military force to counter threats. He highlighted the necessity of a systemic approach to security, focusing on digital government capabilities and the identification of any irregularities. The party aims to connect with international organizations to protect domestic data and identify external threats.

Addressing Thai-Cambodian border security, Wongsawat stated the immediate focus would be to enable citizens to return to normalcy and support soldiers performing their duties. If the Pheu Thai Party forms a government, sovereignty will be prioritized, maintaining a strong military presence while managing border areas through diplomatic and military means. He emphasized compliance with the United Nations Charter and principles of peace and human rights.

On the topic of troop reduction, Wongsawat mentioned that this would require an assessment of threats and appropriate allocation of budget and personnel. He pointed out the need to enhance drone capabilities and military medical expertise, advocating for security to be the core of military research, similar to the US military's approach. Conscription should be proportionate, with armed forces ready to assist in times of threat, in collaboration with military leaders.
